Day 0: Potrero Regional Park, California, USA
This morning we will rendezvous at the beautiful Potrero Regional Park 45 miles east of San Diego in California at an elevation of 2300′. Today we will cross the border as a group into Tecate, Mexico and Baja Amigos will guide you through the Tourist Permit process. On return to the campground, everyone will receive an orientation prior to your 28 day Mexican Baja Adventure. Later Lisa & Dan will host a wine & cheese so everyone can get acquainted.

DAY 1: Tecate & Ensenada, Mexico
Today we are off to Ensenada. We cross at Tecate driving briefly on Hwy 3 before turning on Hwy 2 Toll, then onto Corridor 2ooo before entering onto Hwy 1 Toll prior to entering Ensenada. This takes s westward along the Mexican/American border, then south along the eastern perimeter of Tijuana before turning onto the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

DAY 2: El Pabellon-Lazaro Cardenas
Today we continue our southward journey that take us through the communities Santos Tomas, San Vicente, Colonet, Vicente Guerrero, San Quintin and Lazaro Cardenas . Our final destination will be a campground adjoining the beach south of Lazaro Cardenas. This area of Baja is known for farming and miles and miles of sand dunes. This campground can be a little cool and windy, but you are sure to enjoy the ocean air.

DAY 3: Catavina
Today we are off to Rancho Santa Inez in the community of Catavina. This will take us through El Rosario where the highway ended prior to construction of Mex 1 in 1973. This campground is located in the heart of the Catavina Boulder Fields and its impressive and unique Sonoran Desert vegetation includes Cirios cactus.

DAY 4: Guerrero Negro
Today’s drive will take us past the junction to Bahia de los Angeles, through Jesus Maria to Guerrero Negro. This is the place to view California Grey Whales and that is exactly what we are going to do! Even for non-boaters it is an experience of a lifetime and well worth any anxieties you may have (spoken by a non-boater). This town thrives on it’s salt industry, another very interesting sight to see while out on the waters.

DAY 5: San Ignacio
Today is a shorter drive taking us into the middle of the desert through Vizcaino before arriving into the a beautiful date palm oasis of San Ignacio. San Ignacio has a population of about 4000 and is home to the magnificent Mission of San Ignacio. The site for the original mission was founded in the Cochimi settlement of Kadakaaman in 1728 by Jesuit missionary Juan Bautista Luyando.

DAY 6 & 7: Bahia Concepcion
Another short drive to Bahia Concepcion, a very popular RV destination for many Snowbirds with twelve (12) beach campgrounds. Bahia Concepcion (23 miles long) is the largest bay in Baja and is located a short drive south of Mulege.

DAY 8 & 9: Loreto
Our short drive today takes us to the town of Loerto. Loreto is the birthplace of California, as it was the first permanent settlement anywhere in the Californians, including the U.S. state to the north. Loreto was the capital of both California’s’ for 132 years and was a sleepy village where summer’s heat made for a laid-back pace for locals and visitors.

DAY 10: Ciudad Constitucion
We are now headed inland to the farming belt of Baja and Ciudad Constitucion, home to the first super Mercado (large supermarket) south of Ensenada, called SuperLey. We will stop here for some supplies prior staying at the RV Park for the night.

Day 11 & 12 Tecolote
We will leave early this morning and drive to Playa El Tecolote where we will spend some serious beach time. Our journey will take us through La Paz where we will grocery up for our boon docking (dry camping).

DAY 13: Rancho Verde
Our short trip today will bring us to the beautiful Rancho Verde RV Haven located on a 3100 Acre Ranch in the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. On route we will stop at El Triunfo, a former mining town nestled in the Sierra de la Laguna.

DAY 14-16: Los Cabos
Our drive today will take us around the west cape to the Pacific Ocean on the Mex 19 highway. On the way we will cross the Tropic of Cancer and our tour includes a stop in Todos Santos where Baja Amigos will host a lunch stop at a legendary Taco Stand. You will see Playa Los Cerritos where many RVers still SnowBird for the winter. For the next 3 nights we will be staying at an excellent RV Park in Los Cabos.

Day 17: El Pescadero
We now start our journey northward along the Pacific Ocean as we leave Los Cabos on a western side of the Cape traveling along Hwy 19 to El Pescadero. This will take us past Los Cerritos beach

DAY 18 & 19: La Paz
Today we have a short jaunt and we’ve now completed the southern loop having returned to La Paz which is (Spanish for “The Peace”) and the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. We will be staying at Campestre Maranatha for the next 2 days.

DAY 20 & 21: Playa Juncalito
We have a longer drive today but well worth it! We will dry camp amongst the date palms in a National Park on the Sea of Cortez, what could be more enjoyable? There is a 2 hour hike to a view point of Puerto Escondido that we will gladly take you on. This is a great beach to go for a dip or just sit, relax and read a book.

DAY 22 & 23: Mulege
Today we have a short drive past Loreto, the Bay of Concepcion and continue on to Mulege, another date palm oasis. The name Mulege is derived from the Cochimi language meaning “Large ravine of the white mouth.” In 1705 a mission was established which they christened Santa Rosalia de Mulege. The beautiful stone building that replaced the original still stands overlooking the river.

DAY 24: Guerrero Negro
Today well return to Guerrero Negro and a different campground which includes a unique restaurant and good WiFi, also a good place to collect shells! Due north from Guerrero Negro is Malarrimo Beach, famous for it’s spectacular beachcombing.
