DAY 31-34: Playa Juncalito

DAY 31-34: Playa Juncalito

(328 km/201 miles)
We have a longer drive today but well worth it!  We will dry camp amongst the date palms in a National Park on the Sea of Cortez, what could be more enjoyable?  There is a  2 hour hike to a view point of Puerto Escondido that we will gladly take you on.  This is a great beach to go for a dip or just sit, relax and read a book.  Kayaking and fishing are good options here.  This photo is of the beach campers, you will have the choice to join them or will be tucked away in the shade of the date palms with us.

Our time here will include a hosted on-tour excursion to the developing port of Puerto Escondido.  Puerto Escondido is bordered by a large, rugged mountain range called Sierra de la Giganta.  In the main harbour parking lot, there still stands a stone building that was used to house a Generator before the complex was connected to the modern power grid. Puerto Escondido was the site of a planned resort, condominium, hotel, golf course and marina complex. Construction was started in the mid 1980s by a French investing group that partnered with the Mexican government and to date only the Marina complex has been completed.
