Day 36: Catavina

Day 36: Rancho Santa Inez in Catavina

(174 km/108 miles)

Today we return to Rancho Santa Inez in the community of Catavina as we continue to retrace our steps northward.  After lunch we will make a short hosted on-tour excursion to cave paintings that are over 7,000 years old.  Another opportunity for photos of the very unique landscape  and more star gazing too!  You will recall that this campground is surrounded by the Desierto Central de Baja California, Baja’s very unique Central Desert.  Much of the desert is under legal protection as an ecological preserve. There are hundreds of species of cactus here that are found no where else, truly biological treasures!

Remember to make sure your furnace is working as the campground is at ‘1800 in the mountains.
